This year it is in London, U.K. The following link will provide a brief explanation of the Award

The research question this year which is due on March 1, 2016 is:

Achieving and Maintaining Professional Competency as an Internal Auditor in a High-Change Environment.

1. Internal auditors work in diverse business organizations and functions. What are the most important professional competencies an internal auditor must have upon entering the profession?

2. The rapid rate of growth and change in knowledge and technology has an astounding and often daunting impact on the world of business, its leaders, and on specialized professionals such as internal auditors. Design a strategy which will enable internal auditors to keep abreast of change. Consider short-term, intermediate-term, and long-term needs of internal auditors and their employing organizations and industries.

3. Should internal auditors be "generalists" or "specialists"? Compare and contrast these two strategies, the implications of both camps, and discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges faced by internal auditors in both categories.
